COLCHESTER, Vt. - Five players scored in double figures, and the Saint Michael's College men's basketball team tied a school record by making 37 free throws in a 100-87 victory over D'Youville (N.Y.) College during the Eracism Invitational sponsored by Best Western on Friday in the Ross Sports Center.
The Purple Knights were ranked ninth in this week's D2SIDA East Region Poll. In the day's other game, The College of Saint Rose beat Lake Superior State (Mich.) University, 59-58, with a buzzer-beater.

- Saint Michael's reached 100 points for the first time since a 114-88 victory over Caldwell (N.J.) University on Nov. 8, 2019, on Assumption University's home floor.
- The hosts shot 37-of-42 on free throws (88.1%), matching the school record for made freebies set versus Merrimack College on Dec. 11, 1971. The figure was the second highest in Division II this season, and the third most among all NCAA Division I, II and III men's basketball programs in 2022-23.

THE ACTION
- Saint Michael's turned a 7-5 lead into a 24-9 advantage by 13:21 of the opening half on the strength of five scorers in a 4:04 stretch, with Duniver burying two three-pointers and Brown adding a pair of buckets.
- Reid's steal and fast-break lay-in with 3:18 to go gave the Purple Knights a 50-30 lead, and his pair of freebies at 1:26 provided them their largest first-half advantage, 55-34.
- The hosts were up 58-39 at the intermission, coming within 10 points of a school record for half scoring, reached on Dec. 14, 1965, and again on Jan. 20, 1997.
- Duniver (18:06 and 16:31) knocked down a pair of early triples during the second stanza, and Yepdo's lay-in made it 69-43 at 14:34.
- The Saints drew within 75-61 on Theisen's pair of free throws with 8:28 left, but the next 10 points went to the Purple Knights, with eight on free throws, including four in a row at one point by Kabimba, and Milojevic's jumper had the hosts up 89-64 by 6:54.
- D'Youville scored the final eight points, including as first-year Caleb Chapman and Theisen hit triples in the final 1:14.
