Men's Basketball Suffers 83-82 Setback at Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team lost to Bloomfield College, 83-82, on Saturday during non-conference play. The Purple Knights, who yielded the winning hoop with four seconds left, were eighth in this week's D2SIDA East Region Media Poll.

  • Fulgencio's three-pointer - on his team's lone attempt of the first half - capped a 7-0 run, and Battle-Holley's put-back had the Bears ahead 21-15 by the 10:13 mark.
  • Button knocked down a jumper at 8:44 to bring Saint Michael's within a point, but four players scored as Bloomfield netted the next eight points to grab the first of three nine-point leads in the stanza.
  • Over the final 2:17, Yepdo nailed back-to-back triples, and Button canned a trey of his own at 31 seconds to create a 37-35 margin by halftime.

  • Morris converted a pair of freebies at 33 seconds, but Brzezinski was fouled shooting a baseline jumper at 14 ticks before hitting two free throws of his own, giving the visitors an 82-81 edge.
  • Ellis responded by making the go-ahead lay-in at four seconds. The Purple Knights inbounded but didn't get a final shot away before the buzzer.
