RINDGE, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team lost at Franklin Pierce University, 75-71, on Saturday during Northeast-10 Conference play at the FPU Fieldhouse. The Ravens received votes toward this week's D2SIDA East Region Media Poll.

GAME FACTS

  • The Purple Knights held a 41-38 rebounding lead while committing nine turnovers to Franklin Pierce's seven. The visitors also connected on 13-of-31 three-point tries (41.9%) to the Ravens' 12-for-32 (37.5%) effort.
  • Saint Michael's nearly handed Franklin Pierce its first home loss, with the Ravens improving to 7-0 in the FPU Fieldhouse.

THE ACTION

  • Button scored 16 first-half points, including knocking down a three-pointer after 14 seconds for the game's opening points. Purple Knight first-years had the team's first 13 points, with Button scoring eight and Duniver the other five, as the teams were tied with 13:42 to go in the first half.
  • Sophomore Matt Hofrenning had six points during an 8-0 Raven run, as the hosts pushed the lead to 27-17 on junior Derrick Obanor's triple at 6:34.
  • Behind eight points from Button, Saint Michael's edged within 31-30 at 1:32, and Franklin Pierce took a 36-33 lead into the locker room.
  • Five straight points from Crews again brought the visitors within one (41-40) by 16:27 of the second stanza.
  • Moore's trey extended the lead to 57-49 at 10:11, but five straight Battle points capped an 11-2 run that pushed the Purple and Gold into a 60-59 lead with 6:22 left.
  • Moore responded with a three 18 seconds later, but Gardner's lay-in tied the game at 5:04.
  • First-year Mohamed Traore countered with a transition three with 4:30 left, and the hosts took a four-point edge three times on Moore baskets.
  • Duniver's lay-up created a 73-71 margin with 1:02 left, but Moore's lay-up at 12 ticks made it a four-point game. The Purple Knights missed their final shot and were forced to foul before running out of time.
