Softball Continues Home Run Tear During Final Day of Florida Spring Training

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College softball team hit seven more home runs while taking one game and losing a pair of one-run decisions on the final day of its Spring Training trip on Thursday. The Purple Knights lost to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, 8-7, and Purdue (Ind.) University Northwest, 7-6, before downing regional counterpart Post University, 7-2, during The Spring Games at the DiamondPlex Softball Complex.

The Purple and Gold has already seen a school-record seven student-athletes hit a home run, with the 2016 squad having most recently featured six home run hitters. With 17 homers through just 11 games, the Purple Knights are within six of the 2007 school record, and their per-game average of 1.55 is good for second in NCAA Division II. Saint Michael's returns north with 60 RBI after totaling 62 in 25 games last spring.
