THE ACTION

  • Post netted the game's opening goal at 8:02 of the first period, as Weber put home a second effort from the doorstep after Murphy denied Deloury's initial shot from along the goal line.
  • Ciancio leveled the score with 18:19 gone, sniping a shot from the right circle over Blodgett's blocker-side shoulder.
  • McFarland's seeing-eye shot from the blue line eluded Blodgett during a power play at 4:46 of the second period to give Saint Michael's the lead for good, and Macdonald struck again just nine seconds later, tapping in a loose puck near the left post after Kantgias' initial shot was blocked by an Eagle off the end boards and rebounded back toward the net.
  • Grollman made it 3-2 during a Post power play with 9:00 gone, redirecting DeLoury's pass into the slot.
  • Murphy denied the Eagles a tie thanks to glove save off of junior Jack Engdahl's quick shot from the slot at 16:24, and he made four more stops during an ensuing visitor power play, during which Purple Knight skaters blocked four shots, including two in rapid succession by Ciancio around 18:00.
  • Saint Michael's began pulling away thanks to a pair of power-play goals in the early stages of the third period. Kantgias ripped a shot from the left circle just under the bar at 1:08 before Taylor dragged the puck out front around an Eagle defender and Blodgett before finishing on a vacant left side of the net at 5:01.
  • Crowther finished a 2-on-1 rush with a one-timer at 7:32 to draw Post within 5-3.
  • Routh iced the victory with 13:39 gone, finishing from the slot to Blodgett's glove-side corner after taking McCarthy's centering pass from behind the net.
