  • McCarthy and Taylor were key to the weekend sweep, with McCarthy totaling six points, including five assists, and Taylor recording five points, with two goals and three helpers. Murphy yielded only a pair of even-strength goals during the pair of victories.
  • The Purple Knights improved to 8-6 in the all-time series.

THE ACTION

  • The Purple Knights took the lead for good after 9:29 of play, when McCarthy backhanded a pass across the crease for Routh, who banged a shot home at the right post.
  • Late in the stanza, junior Gabriel Gagnon (Mascouche, Quebec/East Coast Wizards) passed out of the corner and into the slot for senior Owen Rudicus (Duxbury, Mass./Tabor Academy), who quickly moved the puck toward the right post, where Taylor finished over a prone Cunneen at 17:45.
  • Post got one goal back at 8:03 of the second period during a power play. After first-year Nick Weber's initial shot was blocked by Ciancio, Weber swung the rebound down low for Patrick Murphy, who shoveled the puck past Marshall Murphy from near the left post.
  • Only 2:18 later, Kantgias buried a 4-on-3 power-play goal from the slot, beating Cunneen to his glove side, to reestablish a two-goal cushion.
  • McCarthy padded the lead at 3:48 of the third stanza, tallying from the doorstep on the goalie's blocker side after taking Taylor's drop pass.
