Women's Ice Hockey Begins NEWHA Weekend Set with Loss at First-Place LIU

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team opened a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) weekend series against first-place Long Island University by losing a 6-0 decision on Friday afternoon at Northwell Health Ice Center.

THE ACTION

  • Scott put the Sharks on the board 59 seconds into the contest with a one-timer from the slot off of Wallner's pass from behind the net.
  • Lenaeus later deflected home a power-play goal out front with 8:17 gone before Morrow tipped in a teammate's blast 1:07 later.
  • During a power play for the visitors, junior Mikaela Langbacka (Lorton, Va./Washington Pride) tried stuffing in a wraparound attempt at the right post with 14:05 gone but was denied.
  • Mudrak held LIU off the board again until the hosts tallied three times in a matter of 3:11 in the late stages of the third period. Wallner tapped in a teammate's pass at 11:48, Lantto scored on a power play at 13:20, and Culp capped the scoring with 14:59 gone.
