Women's Ice Hockey Concludes NEWHA Weekend at First-Place LIU

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost to first-place Long Island University, 8-1, during New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play on Saturday in the Northwell Health Ice Center to conclude a weekend series.

THE ACTION

  • Bergström tallied 7:40 into the contest before senior Carrigan Umpherville struck on a 5-on-3 power play 3:50 later.
  • LIU put the game away with three goals in the opening 5:21 of the second frame.
  • Harrison got the Purple Knights on the board at 16:53 of third period, sending home a shot from the slot after Kamp dumped the puck into the middle of the ice from the blue line. Leys initially set up the opportunity, forcing a turnover in neutral ice before tracking down a loose puck in the corner.
