GAME FACTS

  • The Purple Knights played their third close decision with the Hawks this season, having lost a pair of 4-2 contests in November.
  • Each of the past seven meetings has been determined by two goals or less, with Saint Michael's forging its third tie - and the second at Sullivan Arena - since 2020.

THE ACTION

  • Turner scored the only goal of the opening period, one-timing a slapshot directly off of Golini's faceoff win with 7:04 gone.
  • Mudrak otherwise made 16 stops in the first frame before collecting another 18 in the second stanza, when both teams went scoreless on two power-play chances.
  • The Purple Knights tied the game 2:13 into the third period. Junior defender Jace Zapata (Brea, Calif./Gentry Academy) retrieved a dumped puck from Mudrak before playing a pass off the wall for Leys, who gained the zone and crossed into the slot. The pass tipped off of Langbacka's stick, and Harrison one-timed a bid over Lalande's blocker and off the left post for the equalizer.
  • With 90 seconds remaining in regulation, sophomore Angelina Ruiz (Independence, Minn./Gentry Academy) saw her shot from the slot blocked by a Hawk skater over the net, and Mudrak made a blocker save at the other end soon thereafter.
  • In the waning seconds, Mudrak denied Golini's bid from below the left circle with 30 ticks remaining before Turner forced a giveaway in the left circle, spun and shot just before the buzzer, pressuring the netminder into denying the surprise attempt.
  • Ruiz's backhanded shot from below the right circle was turned away by Lalande at 1:14 of overtime before Harrison was denied from the slot by Lalande's glove save 16 seconds later.
  • Mudrak secured the deadlock by stoning a pair of point-blank shots off the stick of Golini in the final 30 seconds.
