Crowell Tallies Late as Women's Soccer Downs Regionally-Ranked Bentley, 1-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Sophomore Kayleigh Crowell (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) scored her third game-winning goal of the season in the 85th minute as the Saint Michael's College women's soccer team defeated regionally-ranked Bentley University, 1-0, on Tuesday night at Duffy Field during Northeast-10 Conference play. The Falcons were seventh in this week's United Soccer Coaches East Region poll.

  • Sophomore Faith Kosiba (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable Regional) had a shot on goal shortly after in the 18th minute that Ewen saved and prevented the Purple Knights from taking the lead.
  • Junior Jillian Hendriksen attempted a header on a cross into the box that Anastopoulos saved in the 41st minute to keep the teams in a stalemate.
  • The Purple and Gold had back-to-back shot attempts by senior Sam Page (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and junior Emilia McGiffert (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School/Minnesota Duluth) in the 54th minute, but the attempts were blocked and wide, respectively.
  • Anastopoulos made a diving save to her left in the 64th minute on a shot from junior Bridget Gleason that barred the Falcons from scoring the first goal of the game.
  • Crowell scored the game-winner in the 85th minute after juking a Falcon defender in the attacking third and taking a left-footed shot that found the bottom left corner of the net.
  • The Falcons took two more shots before the end of the game, both in the 86th minute, but the attempts were unsuccessful, with neither reaching the net.
