THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights forged a 12-3 lead in the opening set behind a trio of Patterson kills before twice claiming 10-point advantages, including at 16-6 on Báez Rentas' kill. The Ravens trimmed their deficit to 22-18, but Báez Rentas had a kill to key a clinching 3-1 run.
- Saint Michael's trailed by a 14-9 count in the second set before four players had kills in a go-ahead 7-1 response. After falling behind at 20-17, the Purple Knight scored eight of the final 10 points.
- Franklin Pierce's 18-12 start to set No. 3 was met by a 4-0 run by the visitors, who trailed 18-16 on a Patterson ace, before the Ravens used three kills and two blocks by Koukia during a closing 7-3 run.
- The hosts scored 17 of the first 20 points in the fourth set and never looked back in tying the match.
- Franklin Pierce scored the first five points in the fifth and deciding set before the Purple Knights rallied to tie at 6-all on an error. The next two points went to the Ravens, but Saint Michael's twice came within a single point, including 10-9 on Patterson's kill. However, the hosts scored five of the final six points, with Brandt dropping kills for the final two.
