Field Hockey Drops Midweek Conference Contest to Bentley, 1-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team ­lost to Bentley University, 1-0, on Wednesday during Northeast-10 Conference play at Duffy Field.

THE ACTION
  • The two teams traded possession for the first two quarters, seeing only seven shots in the first half combined.
  • The Falcons took 10 shots in the third quarter, seven of which were stopped by Watt.
  • Shapiro made a defensive save with her stick in the 35th minute on a shot from the top of the circle to prevent the Falcons from scoring. It was her second game in a row denying an aerial shot from an opponent.
  • Watt made four saves in a span of two and a half minutes late in the third quarter before the Falcons finally broke the scoreless tie.
  • Moore found the back of the cage on a pass from Carey off a rebound to give the Falcons the lead in the 44th minute.
  • The Purple Knights saw one of their opportunities stunted after a shot by senior Bridgie Loughlin (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) was blocked on the perimeter by a Bentley defender in the 52nd minute.
