Men's Basketball Loses NE10 Affair to Franklin Pierce, 73-62

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team lost to Franklin Pierce University, 73-62, on Wednesday evening during Northeast-10 Conference action in the Ross Sports Center. The Ravens were seventh in this week's D2SIDA East Region Media Poll.

THE ACTION

  • Neither team led by more than five points until the Ravens used a 14-3 run to forge ahead by a 31-18 count at halftime.
  • After the teams combined for 49 points in the opening 20 minutes, each team scored at least 42 points in the second stanza alone.
  • Saint Michael's slowly chipped at its deficit, ultimately putting together a 15-4 run to rally within a single point, 44-43, when Crews knocked down a pair of free throws at 11:35. Brzezinski knocked down a trio of threes in the stretch, which Duniver highlighted with a breakaway dunk.
  • Bresnan hit a triple just 23 seconds after Crews' freebies before adding a lay-in on the next possession.
  • Crews made two more free throws with 8:36 to go, bringing the hosts within 49-45, and Saint Michael's was still down just 57-52 on Duniver's pair of free throws at 4:47.
  • The Purple and Gold came no closer, as the Ravens scored nine of the next 11 points to take control.

  • The Purple Knights celebrate Senior Day that day while also playing a "This Game is No Secret" contest, part of an Eracism national initiative paying homage to John McLendon, the first African American coach to win an integrated national championship.
