THE ACTION
- Saint Michael's breezed out to a 20-5 lead by 11:57 of the opening half thanks to starting 5-of-9 from three-point range, bolstered by Crews coming off the bench and drilling a trio of threes in a 2:09 span. Crews knocked down a jumper to make it 22-8 at 11:01, by which point he had scored 11 points in the 4:14 since he entered.
- Button's triple extended the lead to 31-15 at 6:28.
- Assumption responded with a 37-8 run, shooting 14-for-23 in that time. Only four players contributed points, as Gaiter had 17 points and Stewart netted 10.
- The Greyhounds led by as much as 61-45 on Gaiter's lay-up with 4:58 left and still held a 13-point lead with less than two minutes to go before the Purple Knights made one final surge.
- Sophomore Jacob Duniver's (Fredericksburg, Va./Woodstock Academy) triple cut the deficit to single digits, 66-58, at 55 seconds, and Oyigbo's lay-up with 10 ticks left dropped the hole to six. However, Glover split a pair of ensuing free throws, and Button's put-back just before the buzzer created the final margin.
