GAME FACTS

  • Due to consecutive postponements, Saint Michael's played for the first time since Feb. 17.
  • The teams met for the second time, with the Purple Knights winning their first meeting last year, 12-11.
  • The Purple Knights picked up 14 caused turnovers on 22 Storm giveaways while committing only 15 of their own. The visitors went 26-for-31 on clears to the hosts' 13-for-18 effort.
  • The Purple and Gold's road trip is the second-furthest it has ever traveled to the west, after a three-game swing to the Bay Area in California in 2012.
  • First-year Gavin Proutt (Baltimore, Md./Boys' Latin School of Maryland) scored his first college goal.
  • Simonson recorded his third consecutive six-point game, while Collins set a career high in points for the second straight contest. Collins' six assists were one short of a school record, as he tallied the most by a Purple Knight since Brian Loughlin '19 had seven on April 13, 2019.
  • Katavolos reached the 90-point plateau for his career.
  • Saint Michael's scored at least 15 goals for the third straight game for the first time since April 5-9, 2005.

THE ACTION

  • Simonson scored three times during a 4-0 second-quarter run that gave Saint Michael's a 7-2 lead by 9:24. Collins tallied the other goal and assisted a pair of Simonson markers, while Grillone dished off an assist.
  • Luthart and Schooley both scored man-up goals to bring the Storm within 9-5 by 3:31, with the teams heading into halftime with that score.
  • Senior Alex Chirgwin's (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) strike at 8:37 of the third pushed the Purple Knight lead to 13-7 before Lake Erie scored twice in 41 seconds to draw within four by 5:15.
  • Saint Michael's countered with the game's final five goals, as five different scorers found the net.

NEXT SAINT MICHAEL'S GAME

  • Wednesday at No. 12 Pace University, 3:30 p.m.
  • The Setters are 12th in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll.
