THE ACTION
- Hughes (14:08) and Sinibaldi (12:51) struck in the opening 2:09 of the contest to give Saint Michael's a 2-0 lead, but the Greyhounds scored eight of the next nine goals to grab an 8-3 advantage by 10:59 of the second. Healey's hat trick led six scorers.
- Simonson's strike at 3:19 brought the Purple Knights with 9-6, but sophomore Nick Polymeros won the ensuing faceoff before heading straight to goal and tallying, pushing the visitors' lead back to four. The score remained 10-6 at halftime.
- As he has done in every game this year, Scardino entered between the pipes for the second half. The netminder keyed the comeback by denying eight of the 10 Assumption shots sent on goal.
- In the meantime, the Purple Knights began the third quarter with five straight goals to take the lead. Woods (14:10) and Grillone (13:44) found the net early before Collins potted a natural hat trick in a matter of 5:11, with his man-up tally off of Hughes' feed at 4:45 giving the hosts an 11-10 edge.
- McGrath knotted the game at 3:28, but Collins scored twice in 49 seconds to put the Purple and Gold ahead 13-11 at 8:47 of the fourth quarter, giving the hosts the final lead.
- After McGrath scored again with 1:36 left, Wilson won the ensuing faceoff, and Katavolos ran more than 30 seconds off the clock while eluding Assumption's double-team efforts before dishing off to Collins for a clinching tally at 44 seconds. The helper was Katavolos' 100th career point.
