Field Hockey Downs AIC, 1-0, for First NE10 Win

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team defeated American International College, 1-0, on Wednesday at Ronald J. Abdow Field in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup.

THE ACTION
  • O'Connor and Wildes saw little action in the first quarter, combining for only three saves.
  • Loughlin scored the game winner in the 24th minute, after senior Madeleine Biondi (Cranston, R.I./Cushing Academy) had a successful poke check in the midfield to take the ball away from AIC. After Biondi's defensive efforts, Loughlin ran 50 yards towards net on a breakaway and maneuvered past AIC's last line of defense to score.
  • O'Connor locked down in the second half, saving three shots in the third quarter and six in the fourth.
