Field Hockey Downed by Southern New Hampshire, 2-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team lost to Southern New Hampshire University, 2-1, on Saturday at Larkin Field. The Purple Knights played the second of three consecutive non-league contests against Northeast-10 Conference opponents.

  • Loughlin pushed her career point total to 51 through 39 games, becoming the 20th Purple Knight with 50 career points. She is the 21st player in program history to reach the 20-goal plateau.
  • O'Connor moved into ninth in program history with 253 career saves, passing Jordan Smalling '09 (244).
  • The last four meetings between the teams have been decided by two goals or less.
THE ACTION
  • During a 10th-minute penalty corner set, the third Purple Knight shot came off the stick of Loughlin, who slipped the ball inside the left side of the cage following Comiskey's centering feed.
  • Southern New Hampshire answered in the 34th minute, as Hendriks sent a penalty corner shot from the perimeter just beyond O'Connor outstretched right leg.
  • O'Connor denied senior Emma Thibodeau's bid in the 41st minute, but Crocombe followed by batting the rebound out of the air for the eventual game-winner.
  • Senior Danielle Cummings (Swanton, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union) picked off an errant pass deep in the Penmen end in the closing minute of regulation before feeding Loughlin, who gained the circle and sent a final shot on Peeters while under pressure from a defender with 41 seconds to go.
