Women's Basketball Loses NE10 Outing Against No. 8 Bentley

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to No. 8 Bentley University 72-48 on Wednesday night in the Ross Sports Center during Northeast-10 Conference play. The Falcons were eighth in the latest D2CSC national poll, as well as 18th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll.

THE ACTION
  • The Falcons led 14-2 in the first 4:31 of the first quarter thanks to beginning the game 6-for-8 from the field and 2-for-2 from three in that stretch.
  • Lyden knocked down a jump shot from the elbow, the first of eight Saint Michael's points in the final 2:36 of the first stanza to cut the lead down to 20-10 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Amber Furch and Santos both knocked down jumpers in the beginning of the second quarter to bring Saint Michael's within eight before the Falcons went on a 15-2 run, which Morgan sparked with a three-pointer at 8:48 and sophomore Mikela Cooper capped with a free throw at 4:54.
  • Santos and Brianna Furch made back-to-back field goals that started a 7-3 run for the Purple and Gold that concluded the second quarter, with the Falcons leading 41-24 heading into halftime.  
  • Saint Michael's trimmed its deficit to 15 on senior Paige Slaven's (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven Regional) lay-up at 8:35 of the third quarter, but Bentley used a 13-4 run later in the period and a 9-0 fourth-quarter run to pull away.
