Women's Ice Hockey Caps Weekend Series with 2-1 Loss to Post

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team finished a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) weekend series against Post University with a 2-1 loss on Saturday at Cairns Arena.

  • Jerylo recorded three assists in the weekend set after recording two helpers in the Friday matchup.
THE ACTION
  • Tink created the first chance of the game for the Purple Knights, firing off a shot just 1:11 into the first period that was saved by Glasrud.
  • The Eagles scored the first goal of the game at 6:24 after sophomore Rylee Patfield won a tie-up in the corner, and first-year Jet Devlin recovered the puck and found a streaking Rose, who slotted her shot past Lavender into the right side of the net.
  • Fisher nearly converted on a 2-on-1 opportunity at 9:02, but the shot was stopped by Glasrud.
  • The Purple Knights had two immediate chances to start the second period as seniors Jace Zapata (Brea, Calif./Gentry Academy) and Mary Leys (Newport, R.I./Saint George's School), had shots at 59 seconds and 1:03, respectively, but both were denied by the Glasrud.
  • Gerebi and junior Angelina Ruiz (Independence, Minn./Gentry Academy) had consecutive attempts at 7:38 in the second period, but both were stopped by Glasrud.
  • After being outshot 16-8 in the first period, the Purple Knights more than doubled their shots in the second period, and held the advantage over the Eagles, 20-7.
  • The Purple Knights got on the board at 2:48 in the third period when LeBlanc scored on the backhand in front of the crease, putting home her own rebound. Jerylo and Fisher assisted.
  • Luckman scored the game-winner for the Eagles at 11:24 on a deflection in the slot that was assisted by first-year Celena Mickevicius and Wysocki.
  • The Purple Knights pulled Lavender for an extra skater for the final 1:07 but were unable to attempt a tying shot.
