THE ACTION
  • Manahan made his finest first-period saves back-to-back around 17:28, first turning away Parent before extending with his right toe to deny Doughart-Wood at the left post.
  • Parent put SUNY Potsdam ahead with the lone goal of the period with 18:22 gone during a power play, skating onto Loran's lead pass in the left circle and chipping a shot over Manahan's left shoulder.
  • The Purple Knights took the lead with a pair of goals 1:16 apart early in the second period. After sophomore Quinn McCarthy (Melrose, Mass./Holderness School) had a shot saved from the slot, Bloom knocked the puck out of the air out front and tied the game at 1:32. Wracker then gave his team the lead by tapping home junior Jack Bavis' (West Roxbury, Mass./Valley Jr. Warriors) backdoor pass to the right post with 2:48 gone.
  • McCarthy nearly made it 3-1 but rung the post at 9:15.
  • Doughart-Wood found the equalizer with another Bear power-play strike, converting Loran's backdoor pass to the left circle with 13:34 gone.
  • Manahan kept it 2-2 heading into the third period by smothering Olszewski's one-timer from the left circle with 20 seconds to go.
  • Manahan denied a pair of Loran go-ahead attempts in the final frame, stopping him from out front during a power play at 8:34 and again from the slot with 16:01 gone.
  • Olszewski put the Bears ahead for good only 22 seconds later, tallying from out front to finish an odd-man opportunity.
  • With Manahan out of the net for various stretches in the closing minutes, Rose (17:20) and Hall (19:32) both score empty netters from their own zone to close out the contest.
