Field Hockey Loses to No. 6 Southern New Hampshire

HOOKSETT, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team lost to No. 6 Southern New Hampshire University, 7-0, on Tuesday during Northeast-10 Conference play at Larkin Field. The Penmen's national ranking is according to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

THE ACTION
  • Van de Poll scored 2:11 into the contest off of an assist from Christis to give the hosts the final lead.
  • Graduate student Bridgie Loughlin (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) nearly struck for the tying marker but was denied by Peeters during an eighth-minute corner sequence.
  • O'Connor posted six saves and Fenton added an 18th-minute defensive save during the opening nearly 20 minutes to keep their team within 1-0.
  • Christis scored twice in 42 seconds to make it 3-0 by 20:16, and van de Poll's 27th-minute strike added to the lead.
  • The Penmen tallied three times in an 8:05 span of the fourth quarter to pull away.
