THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights had the best chance during the opening 17 minutes of the contest, when first-year Brianna Jarvis (Swanton, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) drilled a one-timer from the left circle during a power play with 7:23 gone that Saunders denied.
  • Late in the stanza, Lavender stopped Ringor during a rush through the zone, but Wysocki sent home the rebound at 18:02.
  • Lavender turned away a pair of Eagle breakaway bids in the early portion of the second stanza, denying Rose at 4:32 and Ringor's shorthanded bid with 6:45 gone.
  • Senior Angelina Ruiz (Independence, Minn./Gentry Academy) nearly put her team on the board at 10:26, but her one-timer from the slot was saved, and Saunders made a glove save of first-year Jodie Gratton's (Saint Albans, Vt./Proctor Academy) power-play one-timer from the low left circle at 17:05.
  • Post pulled away with two goals in a 3:17 span of the third period. Rose took a giveaway in neutral ice before splitting two defenders, making a move up close and finishing at 4:24, and Peterson made it 3-0 after getting a step on the defense and roofing a shot from the low left circle with 7:41 gone.
  • Lavender made a pair of stellar stops later in the frame, sprawling to reject junior Caisey Van Den Oetelaar at 8:41 and making a right pad save of sophomore Tymmarie Grom's bid at 9:46.
  • Mickevicius added to the lead with 16:25 gone, taking a giveaway inside her own blue line before making a final move on Lavender and finishing a shorthanded strike.
  • First-year Keeley Callander (Flagstaff, Ariz./Ontario Hockey Academy) gained a breakaway bid with a little more than a minute remaining, but her shot from the right circle deflected off of Saunders and trickled just wide of the left post.
