Men's Soccer Loses 2-0 Decision to Saint Anselm

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's soccer team lost to Saint Anselm College, 2-0, during Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday at Duffy Field.

THE ACTION
  • With 54 seconds left in the opening half, senior Samuel Assantha got a step behind the Purple Knight defense, but junior Xolo Miralles (Vinaròs, Spain/IES Leopoldo Querol/Otero) recovered in time to disrupt his opportunity at the edge of the box.
  • In the 50th minute, sophomore Marshall Butler's (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) diving header sent Hood into a diving save, and first-year Diego Aplicano's (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol) 54th-minute bid from the right corner of the box drifted just above the crossbar.
  • Smith dove to turn away Leader's shot from the top of the box late in the 56th minute.
  • Following a giveaway in the final third, first-year Chance Prouty chipped a pass to Dresens, who found the top right corner at 69:34 for the opening strike.
  • Sophomore Aliou Cisse (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) slipped an end line cross in the 78th minute for senior Alessandro Pescina (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela/Colegio Loyola Gumilla), whose shot was stopped by a diving Hood at the left post.
  • Leader padded the lead in the 85th minute, picking up a loose ball in the midfield before carrying into the box and connecting from mid-range.
