Field Hockey Narrowly Loses to Ninth-Ranked Saint Anselm, 1-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team narrowly lost to No. 9 Saint Anselm College, 1-0, during Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday at Duffy Field. The Hawks' national ranking is according to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

THE ACTION
  • The Hawks scored just 58 seconds into the contest, as Fenton denied senior Chloe Kapsambelis' shot with a defensive save before Davis put home the rebound.
  • Cameron made six stops during the remainder of the half and nine more in the third period to keep Saint Anselm from extending the lead further. Her pair in the fourth stanza kept Saint Michael's within striking distance.
  • Dean picked up a defensive stop in the 52nd minute, and graduate student Bridgie Loughlin's (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) tying bid in the 54th minute was blocked by a Hawk field player.
  • Early in the 59th minute, sophomore Rebecca Wallace-West's (South Hadley, Mass./Frontier Regional) through ball into the circle narrowly missed springing Loughlin on goal up the right wing.
  • With less than 20 seconds remaining, Loughlin earned her team a penalty corner and received the ensuing insert feed, but her final shot was blocked at the top of the circle.
