Women's Ice Hockey Begins Weekend Series with Loss at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team opened a weekend New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) series with a 5-0 loss to Saint Anselm College on Friday evening in Sullivan Arena.

THE ACTION
  • First-year Brianna Jarvis (Swanton, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) sped through the left circle but had a wrister denied by Mancini just 2:34 into the contest.
  • In the latter stages of the opening frame, the Hawks worked a 2-on-1 into the visitors' zone, with Tullo finishing the rush to Lavender's glove side at 13:48.
  • Lavender helped kill a Saint Anselm power play in the first half of the second period by stopping a point-blank bid at each post at 7:10 and 7:14.
  • With 8:47 gone, Donovan made it 2-0 after putting home a second effort following Lavender's initial save.
  • Jackson extended the lead at 16:35, sending in a rebound from a tough angle along the goal line.
  • The Hawks pulled away with two goals in 35 second early in the third period, when Donovan banked a wraparound shot at 1:46 and Jackson finished a 3-on-1 rush at 2:21.
