  • Saint Michael's tied a school record with its 10th win, matching the 2000, 2001 and 2002 teams.
  • The Purple Knights extended their unbeaten streak to nine games (6-0-3), matching the 1989 squad for second-longest in program history. Only the 1991 team (10) had a longer run.
  • The Purple and Gold earned its first win in 15 meetings with Adelphi, having been winless and scoreless in seven prior visits to Garden City.
  • Anastopoulos returned from a four-game absence to notch her eighth win of the year, the most by a Purple Knight keeper since Ashleigh Adams '12 also had eight in 2008.
  • Adelphi had allowed six goals all season entering the game, yielding multiple tallies against only Wilmington (Del.) University on Sept. 7. The Panthers last allowed as many as three goals last Nov. 12 against The College of Saint Rose in the NE10 Championship title game, and most recently yielded multiple goals at home in a 3-3 draw with Southern Connecticut State University last Sept. 27, 12 home games ago.
  • During its 16-game home unbeaten streak (15-0-1), Adelphi allowed only six tallies on Motamed Field. The Panthers last lost at home on Aug. 31, 2023, with a 2-0 setback to Wilmington.
  • Adelphi held edges in shots (14-11) and corner kicks (8-4).
  • The Purple Knights turned in another strong result against a nationally-ranked foe after tying No. 2 Saint Rose, 0-0, on Sept. 14, 2022, losing to No. 25 Saint Anselm College, 2-1, last Sept. 27, 2023, and tying No. 14 Southern New Hampshire University, 0-0, on Oct. 9.
THE ACTION
  • The teams combined for only seven shots in the first half, when the lone two shots on goal found the back of the net. In the 16th minute, Issing's shot from the top of the box tipped off of the fingers of a diving Anastopoulos for the opening strike.
  • In the 21st minute, DelVecchio's through ball split the Panther defense, and Gormley slipped a shot from outside the box beyond a diving DeRouen and inside the right side of the net.
  • Saint Michael's went ahead to stay in the 61st minute. Senior Claire Williams (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) sent a ball over the back line that put DelVecchio alone on DeRouen, but as the defense caught up, DelVecchio's shot was knocked away by the sliding keeper. Gormley, the trailer, chipped the loose ball off of the netminder's hands, and Brookes finished near the goal line.
  • In the 63rd minute, Williams sent a breakout pass for Brookes, who was taken down for a penalty kick. Kosiba converted the kick at 63:24 to push the lead to 3-1.
  • Anastopoulos denied back-to-back point-blank bids in the 66th minute to maintain the lead and was credited with two more during a corner sequence in the 85th minute, when sophomore back Bridget McLoughlin (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) helped clear a loose ball at the goal line.
