Women's Ice Hockey Downed by Sacred Heart in NEWHA Action

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost to Sacred Heart University, 6-0, during New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) action on Friday in Cairns Arena.

GAME FACTS

  • The Purple Knights' penalty kill was perfect on the night, eliminating the only penalty called during the game in the early-goings of the second period.
THE ACTION
  • Lavender made 11 saves in the first period including back-to-back saves at 16:11 and 16:13 on attempts from first-years Ally Cohen and Ella Holm, respectively.
  • Sacred Heart scored the first two goals of the night just over two minutes apart at 4:17 and 6:56 in the second period. Holm netted the first goal by picking up a loose puck in front of the crease for a tap-in, and sophomore Campbell Heger followed for the second goal on assists from Addie Bowlby and Bennetts.
  • Senior Kate Helgeson scored the third goal of the second period at 16:42 on a cross-ice pass from Sami Bowlby to tap in a one-timer and put the Pioneers up 3-0.
  • The Pioneers tallied three more times in the third period to pull away.
