Women's Ice Hockey Suffers 3-1 Setback to Stonehill

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team suffered a 3-1 setback to Stonehill College in New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play on Saturday in Cairns Arena.

GAME FACTS
  • Stonehill held a 33-25 lead in shots.
THE ACTION
  • Slocum put Stonehill ahead 10:59 into the first period, tipping in junior Lucie Turcotte's pass from the left circle.
  • The Skyhawks added two goals in a 1:18 span during the latter portion of the frame. Sacca put home a rebound from the slot with 18:24 gone, and Karo picked a corner on a power play at 19:42.
  • Fisher responded only 3:31 into the second period on a Purple Knight power play, stuffing home a rebound out front, with LeBlanc and Leys assisting.
  • The teams went scoreless from there, with Lavender stopping all 20 Stonehill shots in the final two periods and Caron denying the last 14 shots by the Purple Knights.
  • The Skyhawks killed five penalties in that time, including as they had two in the box for the final 24 seconds of the contest and the Purple Knights pulled Lavender for a 5-on-3 advantage. Saint Michael's did not put any shots on net in that closing segment.
