GAME FACTS
- The Purple Knights held a narrow advantage in blocked shots, edging the Greyhounds 15-14.
- The Greyhounds bested the Purple and Gold in faceoffs, holding a 24-17 lead in the circles. Assumption also narrowly outshot the Purple Knights 34-30.
THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights scored just 1:05 after the opening faceoff when Gerebi redirected the puck from McDonald's shot from the point to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Chedel added a secondary assist.
- The Greyhounds responded at 6:49 when Agerter scored by tapping in the rebound of Chaplain's wrister from the right faceoff circle to even the score.
- DeMarinis made two saves in the final 32 seconds of the opening frame and Chedel added a blocked shot to neutralize the Greyhounds' final scoring push of the first period.
- The Greyhounds had a power play starting at 7:51 in the second period, but DeMarinis made three saves during the woman advantage to stop Assumption from taking the lead.
- Assumption capitalized on its next power-play opportunity, when McGaffigan tallied at 17:52 on assists from sophomore Alexa Hanrahan and Ajakie.
- DeMarinis made a great save on a breakaway chance for sophomore Lauryn Broecker 3:52 into the third period to keep the Greyhounds from extending the lead.
- Assumption doubled its lead at 15:57 when Browning scored on a shot in front of the net to give the Greyhounds a 3-1 lead.
- The Purple Knights pulled DeMarinis at 17:33 for an extra skater and also had a power-play opportunity begin with 40 seconds remaining in the game, but Weiser made five saves in the final 2:06 to stop the Purple Knights' final push.
