ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Saint Michael's College women's cross country sophomore Fran Peterson (Barron, Wis./Barron) and first-year Jersey Miller (Minneapolis, Minn./Saint Louis Park) both landed in the top 15 during the NCAA East Regional Championship on Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan University. The Purple Knight men and women both recorded 10th-place finishes among 24 schools.
 
TEAM RESULTS

• The women, who were ranked 10th in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region poll, took 10th place among 24 schools with 208 points, within seven points of the top seven. The Purple Knights narrowly trailed fourth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University, which took ninth (206); ninth-ranked D'Youville University, which placed eighth (203); and fifth-ranked Saint Anselm College, which occupied seventh (201).
• Top-ranked Roberts Wesleyan won with 71 points.
• Despite not being ranked in the most recent USTFCCCA East Region top 10, the men took 10th among 24 schools, matching seventh-ranked and 11th-place Daemen University with 269 points. The Purple Knights were also within 18 points of ninth-place Caldwell University, which was ranked sixth in the region.
• Saint Michael's cracked top 10 at regionals for the second time in three years, placing eighth in 2022, after previously not posting a top-10 finish in 31 NCAA East Regional Championships. The Purple Knights had otherwise only placed top 10 at the smaller New England and East regionals, whose fields were never larger than 20 schools.
• Southern Connecticut State University, the top-ranked team in the region, won the men's championship with 54 points.
