Women's Ice Hockey Begins NEWHA Set with Loss to First-Place LIU

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) matchup against first-place Long Island University, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Northwell Health Ice Center.

THE ACTION
  • The Sharks scored 1:17 into the first period when Wallner stole the puck in front of the blue line, then skated in between the two faceoff circles to score her first goal on a wrist shot to give LIU a 1-0 lead.
  • Wallner scored her second goal of the first period at 15:52 after sophomore Lisa Schröfl took a shot from the point that Lavender saved, and Wallner tapped in the rebound to make the score 2-0.
  • The Sharks sealed the victory by tallying four goals in the second period and one in the third, as Babington and Morrow both tallied twice, and Wallner completed the hat trick with her second-period goal.
