EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) matchup against first-place Long Island University, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday afternoon at the Northwell Health Ice Center. The teams will meet again next weekend at LIU in a best-of-three NEWHA Championship first-round series beginning on Friday.

THE ACTION
- Neither squad was able to find the back of the net in the first period, as Lavender and Holm made nine and seven saves, respectively, to keep the two teams at a stalemate.
- The Purple Knights broke the scoreless tie at 6:18 in the second period when Gerebi slotted the puck past Holm on assists from Leys and Langbacka.
- The Sharks equalized at 13:37 when Lenaeus netted the puck on assists from sophomores Emma Mörtl and Lisa Schröfl.
- LIU earned its first lead of the afternoon at 6:29 in the third period when Morrow scored on helpers from Wallner and senior Saige McKay.
- The Purple Knights tied the game at 7:59 when Ruiz netted her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Canterbury and LeBlanc.
- The Sharks won 3:05 into the overtime period on a goal from Lantto assisted by junior Bri Eid and Wallner.
