Women's Basketball Downed by No. 17 Bentley in NE10 Monday Matinee

WALTHAM, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to 17th-ranked Bentley University, 70-55, on Monday during Northeast-10 Conference play in the Dana Center. The Falcons were 17th in last week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national rankings and 20th in the D2CSC national poll. Bentley is tied for second in the most recent D2CSC East Region poll.

THE ACTION
  • Blake and Brophy both made baskets in the opening 1:15 of the first quarter to give the visitors a 4-0 lead before the Falcons went on a 7-0 run to discard the Purple Knights' advantage.
  • Brophy knocked down a shot beyond the arc at 5:18 to tie the game, and neither team led by more than three points for the remainder of the first quarter, as the Purple Knights held a 14-13 lead in between stanzas.
  • Saint Michael's scored the first four points of the second quarter, capped off by Nadeau's lay up at 8:56, to hold a five-point lead at 18-13.
  • The Falcons scored the next 18 points and headed into the locker rooms with a 31-18 lead.
  • Santos scored six points for the Purple Knights and grabbed three offensive rebounds in the third quarter, but the Falcons outscored the visitors 24-18 in the stanza.
  • Santos scored the Purple Knights' first five fourth-quarter points, including her deep ball at 7:18 making the score 59-41. Her triple with 1:04 left had the visitors down 68-54, but they came no closer.
