COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to No. 16 Assumption University, 69-43, on Wednesday during a Northeast-10 Conference contest in the Ross Sports Center. The Greyhounds were 16th in this week's D2CSC national poll and 20th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll. Assumption is tied for second in the D2CSC East Region poll and is among 10 teams considered in the first NCAA East Region rankings.

THE ACTION
- Slaven had a hand in her team's first six points as the Purple Knights led 8-2 by 6:56 of the opening quarter, and the hosts still led 14-8 on Santos' lay-in at 9:49 of the second quarter.
- The Greyhounds shot 5-for-7 from three-point range in the period to push ahead 31-21 by halftime, at one point scoring 11 straight points, keyed by eight in a row from Stokes.
- Callahan netted the first bucket of the second half to extend the Assumption lead to 12, but seniors Nadeau, Slaven and Blake all scored in a 7-0 response, and the hosts were still down 39-33 following Furch's jumper at 3:48 of the third stanza.
- The Greyhounds scored the next 14 points in a run that continued into the final period, led by Dahl (5) and Mieczkowski (4), and their lead never slipped to fewer than 18 points from there.
