MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Saint Michael's College baseball team kicked off a six-game road trip to North Carolina with a loss to 19th-ranked University of Mount Olive, 20-2, on Tuesday at Scarborough Field. The Trojans were 19th in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national poll as well as tied for third in the NCBWA Southeast Region poll.

THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning when Kinsella scored on a wild pitch.
- The Spartans scored two runs in the bottom half on an RBI groundout from graduate student Gordon Pihl and an RBI single from junior Cooper George.
- The Spartans went up 6-1 after McLean hit a solo home run and Choboy knocked a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning.
- Kinsella went deep for the Purple Knights in the top of the fourth inning, making the score 6-2.
- The Spartans extended their lead in the fifth inning by scoring four runs, capped off by McLean's two-run single to make the score 10-2.
- Mount Olive scored five runs in both the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to ice the win.
