Men's Lacrosse Earns NE10 Win Over Franklin Pierce, Reyes Tallies Six Times

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team scored 13 of the first 14 goals en route to a 16-4 victory over Franklin Pierce University during Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday at Duffy Field. The Purple Knights were third in this week's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll, while the Ravens received votes toward the NEILA rankings.

GAME FACTS
  • The Purple Knights took their fourth meeting from Franklin Pierce in the last six tries while earning the largest series victory for either team since Saint Michael's took a 15-1 decision in 2008.
THE ACTION
  • Chirgwin (12:23), Simonson (11:11) and Murphy (10:04) scored the game's first goals in an early 2:19 span of the first quarter to give the Purple Knights the lead for good.
  • Spinale scored at 7:03, but Saint Michael's rattled off the next 10 goals, led by five from Reyes. During one 29-second stretch of the third period, Reyes (10:39 and 10:10) scored twice around a Woods (10:28) marker, and Reyes tallied again at 9:05 to cap a four-goal stretch in a matter of 1:34.
  • After the hosts had taken a 13-1 lead, yielding only one goal in the opening 40:07, the teams split the final six goals.
