Evan Balian (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) and sophomore
Keegan Burke (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) both earned selection to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, March 31.
Balian batted .600 with a 1.400 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage from the heart of the order during a three-game weekend series victory over Saint Anselm College. He was 6-for-10 with six runs, five RBI, two doubles, two home runs, three walks and a hit-by-pitch while splitting time between catcher and designated hitter. Balian was 2-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's opener and 3-for-4 with two runs, three RBI and a double in the nightcap while homering in each end of the twinbill. The Purple Knights won the second contest, 5-3, before taking Saturday's rubber game, 9-4, thanks to Balian's 1-for-2 effort with three runs, a double, two walks and a hit-by-pitch. He is tied for fifth in the NE10 in home runs (4) while batting .288 with a .576 slugging percentage and a .397 OBP. Balian is already nearing career highs with 12 runs and 14 RBI while drawing a personal-best 10 bases on balls.
Burke allowed one run on four hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over 7.2 innings while earning the victory in the 5-3 win against Saint Anselm on Friday. For the season, the righty has struck out a career-high 29 over 27.1 innings in six contests, including five starts. He owns a 1-2 record with one save and is tied for 14th in the NE10 in strikeouts.
The Purple Knights stand 5-14 overall and 2-3 in NE10 play heading into a week of contests that thus far includes Assumption University and Franklin Pierce University on the docket.
