COLCHESTER, Vt. - Senior
Andrew Lanthier (Orwell, Vt./Fair Haven Union) went 7-for-9 with four stolen bases and a game-saving ninth-inning catch in the opener of the Saint Michael's College baseball team's Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader sweep of the University of New Haven, 10-9 and 8-2 in seven innings, on Sunday at Doc Jacobs Field.

DOUBLEHEADER FACTS
- Already the program's career steals leader (43), Lanthier stole four bases during Sunday's twinbill to increase his season total to 15, matching Joe Webber (2018) for second-most in program history. Brian Rayder '93 set the school record with 18 in 1992.
- Lanthier has 111 career hits, passing three players to take over ninth in program history.
- First-year Kyle Valenzuela (Hoboken, N.J./County Prep) picked up his first career hit during the nightcap.

THE ACTION
- On the strength of a four-run first inning, which featured Santos' two-run single, Saint Michael's led 7-1 by the time Balian knocked his second RBI single of the contest in the fourth inning.
- New Haven scored the next eight runs, beginning with six runs on four hits in the fifth frame. McGugan had a two-run single, and sophomore Nick Ungania's RBI single scored one run before McGugan scored the tying run on an error.
- With two down in the sixth, McGugan sent an RBI single up the middle to snap the tie before later coming around to score and make it 9-7.
- Santos plated one run in the seventh, and Larson followed with a two-out, two-run double to put the Purple Knights up 10-9.
- With one on and one out in the ninth, Wells hit a blast toward right center, but center fielder Lanthier made a diving catch over the fence to bring the ball back into the yard, his second such play in as many seasons, for the second out. After a walk put the tying run in scoring position, Robinson came in from the bullpen to retire his only batter on five pitches with a 3-1 groundout.

THE ACTION
- Cavossa picked up an RBI single before scoring on a two-out error in a two-run first inning.
- After Frazzetta's RBI double halved the deficit in the second, Saint Michael's scored four runs on five hits in the home half, with Weber, Balian and Cavossa rapping consecutive RBI singles.
- Wells' RBI single made it 6-2 in the third, but a 6-4-3 double play ended the threat.
- Kinsella added to the lead with RBI knocks in the fourth and sixth innings.
