COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced
Alicia Norris has earned its 2024 Dr. Dave Landers Faculty Mentor Award thanks to her support and dedication to the College's student-athletes. A professor of business administration and accounting, Norris will now be considered for the Northeast-10 Conference Dr. Dave Landers Faculty Mentor Award.

Men's ice hockey junior/SAAC vice president
David Ciancio (Scituate, R.I./Seahawks Hockey Club) described Norris' passion for helping all Saint Michael's students, and the impact she makes upon the student-athlete population.
Â
"Professor Norris has mentored members of our team by openly talking about her life beyond being a professor," said Ciancio. "She does a great job showcasing that we have lives outside of our work, studies and sports, and how that can impact you on any given day. Her ability to communicate how she is doing and what is going on in her life not only builds stronger relationships with her students, but it also gives her students a great example of how to balance work/life and manage the stresses that come along with that in a healthy way."
Â
Norris joined the Saint Michael's faculty in spring 2018, continuing a career that already featured more than two decades in an educational role, which included corporate training and college classes. The certified public accountant previously taught at nearby Champlain College and the University of Vermont, where she earned her master's degree in accounting after finishing a bachelor's degree in economics at Metropolitan State University of Denver in Colorado. A Vermont resident for more than 20 years, Norris has incorporated sports into her family life, coaching basketball and soccer and with Girls on the Run.
Â
"Professor Norris has committed herself to preparing student-athletes for our lives after college by making continuous efforts to develop us as people, not just as students," continued Ciancio. "She does a great job taking in external factors outside the classroom that impact us and teaching us how to navigate and handle everything that we have going on. In addition, she creates a lively environment in her classroom that engages and demands the attention of all students."
