SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team lost to American International College, 2-0, on Wednesday at Abdow Field.

  • Cameron registered three stops by the fourth minute of the game in what amounted to a scoreless first half.
  • Saint Michael's nearly snagged a lead before the end of the quarter, but Martiello made a defensive save in the 13th minute on senior Anna Comiskey (Highgate, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union/VTSU Castleton).
  • Voll broke the stalemate in the 32nd minute, turning in the circle and slipping a shot inside the right post.
  • The Purple Knights countered with a sustained threat in the 35th and 36th minutes that featured six shots - all on goal - and three penalty corners in a matter of 61 seconds. French denied the first five bids, and Rinker added a defensive save to cap the sequence.
