COLCHESTER, Vt. - Sophomore Fran Peterson (Barron, Wis./Barron) won the third annual Equality Invitational on Saturday to highlight three Saint Michael's College cross country runners placing among the top three. The Purple Knight men and women hosted the unique 8K races for all genders, which features one of only two known 8Ks for women in NCAA cross country, and the longest-running.
 
Peterson won the women's race, followed by first-year Jersey Miller (Minneapolis, Minn./Saint Louis Park) in second. Junior Braden Butler (South Berwick, Maine/Marshwood) placed third in the men's event.
 
TEAM RESULTS

• Both Saint Michael's teams finished second to the University of Vermont. On the women's side, the Purple Knights scored 35 points to trail the Catamounts by 10. The men netted 42 points as UVM won with 18.
• Saint Michael's women have won four of the last nine regular-season meets.
