Women's Soccer Ties Regionally-Ranked Bentley University, 1-1, to Start NE10 Play

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Saint Michael's College women's soccer team tied regionally-ranked Bentley University, 1-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Bentley Soccer Field. The Purple Knights are unbeaten through their first five games, giving them their best start in program history.

THE ACTION
  • Junior Bella DelVecchio (Saugus, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) took two shots early in the third and fifth minutes, but was unable to convert on either chance.
  • Anastopoulos made two saves in the seventh and ninth minutes to stop the Falcons from grabbing an early lead.
  • With 23 seconds left in the first half, senior Nathalie Larsson (Gothenburg, Sweden/Sjölins Gymnasium/Morningside) had a shot on net that was saved by Ewen.
  • Gormley scored after taking a shot from the left side of the box with her left foot and sending the ball over Ewen to give the Purple and Gold a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute.
  • Ewen took a free kick from midfield and sent the ball into the box resulting in a loose ball scrum that Hennessey was able to tap in to equalize in the 89th minute.
