Field Hockey Blanks Molloy, 3-0, in NE10 Action

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team knocked off Molloy University, 3-0, on Saturday during Northeast-10 Conference play at Duffy Field.

GAME FACTS
  • The Purple Knights won their fourth straight in the series.
  • Loughlin moved into a tie with Stacie Arnold '91 for fifth in program history with 19 assists while pushing her point total to 97, within two of Patty Porter '89 for third at Saint Michael's.
THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights nearly broke on the board midway through the first quarter, when first-year Ruby Harrington (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) slipped a redirection off of Loughlin's penalty corner pass wide in the ninth minute.
  • Comiskey put home the go-ahead marker in the 18th minute, one-timing Loughlin's end-line cross.
  • Saint Michael's put the game away with two goals in the final 6:50. In the 54th minute, Loughlin led an odd-woman rush through three defenders, put a shot on net that Balsamo denied, and followed by slipping in the rebound.
  • In the 58th minute, Loughlin's close-range shot started a three-shot flurry that Nigolian capped by cashing in with her first college goal.
