Women's Ice Hockey Drops Series Finale to No. 3 Clarkson

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost to No. 3 Clarkson University, 14-0, on Saturday afternoon in Cairns Arena. The Golden Knights were ranked third in the latest USA Hockey national poll and qualified for last year's NCAA Tournament Frozen Four.

THE ACTION
  • DeMarinis made nine saves before the Golden Knights got on the board just under halfway through the first period after junior Rhea Hicks tallied at 9:55. That proved to be the visitors' lone goal of the stanza.
  • The visitors scored two goals in the first 2:19 of the second period when sophomore Rebecca Morissette and first-year Jenna Smellie scored goals to give the Golden Knights a 3-0 lead.
  • Winn scored on a power play at 14:22 to send Clarkson into the second intermission up 4-0, at which point DeMarinis had registered 36 saves.
  • The Golden Knights scored 10 goals in the third period to widen their lead.
