SHELTON, Conn. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost to Post University, 3-1, on Friday at the Sports Center of Connecticut during New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play.

THE ACTION
  • Neither team was able to break a scoreless tie in the first period, with DeMarinis stopping 12 opportunities while Saunders stopped six.
  • LeBlanc and first-year Ellie Newpower (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) both had opportunities near the halfway mark of the second period but were unable to give the visitors the lead.
  • Ruiz scored the first goal of the game at 13:22 on a 3-on-1 odd-woman opportunity to give the Purple Knights a 1-0 lead on assists from Leys and Canterbury.
  • The Eagles equalized quickly at 15:13 when first-year Rowyn Ringor skated the length of the ice before sending a pass to the front of the crease for Wysocki, who redirected the puck to tie the game.
  • Post scored its second goal at 5:08 in the third period when Farberman sent a shot from the point that was redirected into the net to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead on the power play.  
  • Saint Michael's pulled DeMarinis for an extra skater in the final minute, but Wysocki scored an empty-net goal with 17 seconds remaining to give Post a two-score lead.
