Men's Basketball Loses 80-70 Decision at New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team lost to the University of New Haven, 80-70, on Saturday during Northeast-10 Conference play in the Jeffery P. Hazell Athletics Center.

THE ACTION
  • Neither team led by more than three points until New Haven broke a 16-all tie with a Jeffries free throw at 9:04 of the first half and junior Javel Cherry's triple 38 seconds later.
  • King netted 10 points as the Chargers used a 17-2 run to lead 37-21 by 2:34.
  • New Haven led by as much as 47-30 when King buried a three at 16:20 of the second half, and the hosts were still up 61-45 with 9:43 to go thanks to Cherry's three-pointer.
  • Duniver hit a pair of threes in a quick 10-0 response, and Crews drilled a trey for his team's fourth three in a matter of 2:57 to make it 65-61 with 4:56 remaining.
  • King connected on a pair of free throws 33 seconds later, and the visitors never again came closer than five points down the stretch, as the Chargers made their final 10 free throw tries.
