Men's Basketball Clipped by Southern New Hampshire, 75-67

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team lost to regionally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University, 75-67, during Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday in the Ross Sports Center. The Penmen were sixth in the latest D2 CSC East Region poll.

THE ACTION
  • The teams played through five ties in the opening 6:01 of the contest before Harris knocked down his second three-pointer in a matter of 34 seconds at 13:03, giving the Penmen a 17-11 lead, the largest to that point by either squad. Henderson's triple at 12:26 made it a half-high seven-point advantage (20-13).
  • The Purple Knights cut their deficit to two points three times before halftime and trailed 35-30 at intermission.
  • Greene's lay-in capped a 12-3 run that carried over from the first half and pushed the visitors into a 45-33 lead at 16:49 of the second half, and Fricas' triple had his team ahead 50-37 at 16:04.
  • Saint Michael's responded with the next 17 points in a matter of 4:38, as Byrd and Crews both hit two threes, and Byrd's driving lay-up had the hosts up 54-50 with 11:05 to go.
  • Harris scored the next five points to key a go-ahead 8-0 run, and Greene's basket at 4:54 created a 68-61 margin.
  • Marold's putback made it a four-point game with 3:47 left, but the Purple Knights came no closer, as junior Royce Williams buried a three 26 seconds later before Crews' lay-in at 2:53 was his team's final field goal.
