WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to regionally-ranked University of New Haven, 56-49, during Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday in the Jeffrey P. Hazell Athletics Center. The Chargers were fourth in this week's D2 CSC East Region poll.

THE ACTION
- The Chargers jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first 2:23 of the game, led by five points from Hogan.
- The Purple Knights responded with a 12-3 run behind five different scorers and took a 14-12 lead with 1:32 left in the first quarter after first-year Margaret Montplaisir's (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) triple.
- Senior Sabira Ahayevna hit a three shortly after to give the Chargers a 15-14 lead to end the first quarter.
- New Haven grabbed four points to start the second quarter, but Tyler and Furch hit shots assisted from Blake to tie the game at 19 apiece at the 6:38 mark.
- The Chargers went on an 8-2 run during a 1:48 span, capped off by Hogan's pull-up jumper at 3:23, to make the score 27-21 in favor of the hosts. New Haven led 33-28 at halftime.
- The two squads played through three ties and three lead changes in the third quarter, but the hosts went on an 8-0 run in the final 1:55 and held a 45-40 lead at the end of the quarter.
- Coles hit a jumper to start the fourth quarter for the Chargers, but the Purple and Gold responded with a 9-0 run to take a 49-47 lead after Furch's lay in at 5:11.
- After McDonald-Perry's tying putback at 3:33, Hogan knocked down a go-ahead three with 1:18 left. The Purple Knights went scoreless on their next possession, and Hogan made four free throws down the stretch to score the final seven points of her team's game-ending 9-0 run.
