Women's Ice Hockey Downed by Stonehill in NEWHA Weekend Finale

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team lost to Stonehill College, 3-0, on Saturday to close a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) weekend series at Bridgewater Ice Arena.

THE ACTION
  • The Skyhawks tallied the only goal of the first period at the 8:30 mark when Geist scored an unassisted goal to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
  • Stonehill doubled its lead with 11 seconds remaining in the second period when Feeney scored on a deflection in front of the crease on assists from Barrett and Sacca.
  • The Purple Knights looked to cut the lead down in the start of the third period, with senior Grace Canterbury (Eagle River, Alaska/Shattuck-Saint Mary's School) and first-year Keeley Callander (Flagstaff, Ariz./Ontario Hockey Academy) both taking shots that were saved by Stone in the opening 1:06 of the period.
  • The Skyhawks made it 3-0 when Feeney took a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle and found the back of the cage at 10:46.
